Impermeable MaterialsOur innovative nanocomposites approach is to produce tentage fabric using inexpensive materials and manufacturing techniques that (i) have superior chemical, biological, flame, UV, and abrasion resistance to current fielded liners (ii) and will yield a substantially reduced cost to allow increased availability across the battlefield. Triton has shown that our nano barrier film can be used in the M28 CB resistant tent liner, which can be used with the CP DEPMEDS (Collectively Protected Deployable Medical System), the CHATH (Chemically Hardened Air Transportable Hospital), and the CP EMEDS (Collective Protection Expeditionary Medial System). The low cost realized with our high barrier materials may be transferred to general use tentage, which currently does not provide any CB protection or with the currently designed JTCoPS (Joint Transportable Collective Protection System), which is currently under development. Passive TentsCurrently, small crew tents rely on pressurized system for providing chemical/biological protection. Our approach offers a passive tent that will eliminate the need for a bulky and heavy carbon filter/blower system, reducing therefore the overall weight and volume of the current tent. Our passive tent is breathable (i.e. allow oxygen to enter the tent and allow water vapor, heat and carbon dioxide to exit), and impermeable to chemical agents. Our passive tent does not require any power source. |
